Gloucestershire have signed Nottinghamshire bowling all-rounder Zak Chappell on loan for the remainder of the 2019 Vitality Blast season.
Chappell will be available for selection in Richard Dawson’s side from Tuesday which means he is eligible to play in tonight’s match against Hampshire.
Zak expressed his excitement ahead of joining Gloucestershire
“I’m grateful to Gloucestershire for the opportunity and am looking forward to playing T20 cricket against players I’ve not had the opportunity to face before. The aim is to help the side win matches and qualify for the quarterfinals.
It’s a young and talented squad looking to achieve something together, and that’s exciting to be part of.”

The 22-year-old fast bowler was one of the most sought-after signatures after his contract ended in Leicestershire at the end of last season. He is seen as one of England’s brightest prospects having shown tremendous promise in his young career.
Earlier this year, Zak was selected to play in the England Lions Tour of India. He played in three unofficial ODI’s, in which he took six wickets in 22 overs.
Zak will be teaming up with a Gloucestershire side that has been unlucky in terms of injuries, especially in the bowling department. Benny Howell sustained a hamstring injury in Friday night’s match against Surrey, stretching an already thin squad even further.
Head Coach, Richard Dawson spoke about what Chappell will be able to bring to his squad:
“It’s great to have Zak joining us for the remainder of the T20 competition,” he said. “He will add something different to the team that will help us through to the end of the group stage. If we perform well in our remaining games, we are in with a shout of progressing further and having Zak on our side will help us to do that.”
Chappell has experience of Vitality Blast cricket this year having played for Notts Outlaws against Lancashire Lightning.
