Your favourite moments and memories involving Hamish Marshall

16 August 2016

At the end of this season Gloucestershire Cricket says goodbye to Club legend, Hamish Marshall, who is retiring from professional cricket and returning to his native New Zealand.

One of the most likeable characters on the circuit, it will be sad for all to see Hamish depart Bristol following his 11-year association with the Club, which has included many memorable moments.

Marshall joined Gloucestershire in 2006 - initially as an overseas player - before committing his future to the Club in 2008 as a home-qualified player through his Irish passport.  That decision brought an end to his International playing career, during which he played in 13 Tests, 66 ODIs and three T20 Internationals.

He finished top of Gloucestershire’s 40-over and T20 batting averages in 2008 and has been a mainstay of the middle order across all formats ever since; including the side that beat Surrey by six runs at Lord's in 2015 to win the Royal London One-Day Cup – the Club’s first trophy for more than a decade.

In 2011 Marshall and Kevin O'Brien set a T20 record partnership of 192 for the first wicket against Middlesex at Uxbridge, helping Gloucestershire to a total of 254-3 which (at the time of writing) remains the highest score in domestic T20 cricket.During his career, he has scored 13,869 first-class runs, including 28 centuries; 7,124 in one-day cricket and 2,949 in T20 games.

The reason for writing today is to ask you to share a favourite moment or memory you have of Hamish – whether on or off the field!

Please email carolyn.prosser@glosccc.co.uk in order that your message can be included in a book of memories we will present to Hamish at the Club’s annual awards evening on 30 September.
