Will Gidman to join Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club

15 August 2014

Gloucestershire Cricket today confirmed that Will Gidman will be leaving the Club at the end of the 2014 season.  He will be joining Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club in 2015 on a 3 year deal.

Commenting on his decision, Will said: "First and foremost I would like to say thank you for the opportunities I have been given over the last 4 years.  It has been a huge honour to play for Gloucestershire Cricket, the club I supported as a kid growing up.  The club and especially the members and supporters have been fantastic and this is something I am very thankful for.

"To play First Division cricket, at this stage in my career, was too good an opportunity to turn down.  Therefore, for family and cricketing reasons, I have decided to join Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club which is something I am incredibly excited about.

"There is still much to play for this season and I can’t wait to get back on the field and enjoy the rest of my time with Gloucestershire."

Director of Cricket, John Bracewell, added: “It is sad news to lose Will after 4 years with Gloucestershire after a triumphant return to his home county.  Having spent time in the Durham 2nd XI he returned to Gloucestershire and quickly established himself as the leading all-rounder in the country, breaking records previously held by the likes of Sobers and Procter.

“Will is a great professional and I wish him all the very best in his future career.”
