We Can Wrap It Up Now Says Will

19 July 2013

Will Gidman felt Gloucestershire could be pleased with their day's work after Worcestershire reached 296-8 at stumps on the third day of the County Championship game at Cheltenham.

Worcestershire hold an overall lead of 152 and their hopes rest on the shoulders of Joe Leach, who reached his madien first-class hundred in the last over of the day.

Gidman finished as the most successful of Gloucestershire's attack with three wickets, while Tom Smith took two wickets and there were one apiece for Craig Miles and James Fuller, plus a run out.

Gidman said: "It was a tough day in the field for us. They batted well and have been nice and patient, but we fought hard and got a decent amount of wickets. Hopefully, we can wrap it up tomorrow.

"It was a very good innings by Joe Leach. He batted very nicely in the first innings as well, so fair play to him. It was much-needed from their perspective.

"But I think we bowled really well. To get them eight down on this pitch was a good effort, because to be fair, the scores so far don't really reflect the pitch.

"I think it's very much a batsman-friendly pitch. Worcestershire will be the first to admit that the 182 they scored in the first innings was quite low and we were disappointed by our batting yesterday. We felt 326 was a bad innings. So we can pleased with our day's work and, hopefully, we can wrap their innings up in the morning."
