We Can Take Top Spot Again - Michael

15 June 2013

Gloucestershire bid to regain the leadership of Group C when Yorkshire visit the Bristol County Ground, for a YB40 clash on Sunday (1.45pm start).

Somerset took over top spot through a superior run rate when their match against the Unicorns at Truro was declared a no-result because of rain on Friday.

But they have played a game more than Gloucestershire and face a tough game against third placed Leicestershire at Taunton on Sunday.

Gloucestershire skipper Michael Klinger is hopeful his side can leapfrog their neighbours again, although both could have to overcome the threat of poor weather.

Michael told this website: "There is apparently going to be rain around and we hope it affects Taunton more than Bristol. If we can get enough cricket in we are capable of getting the victory we need."

Meanwhile Michael has expressed his sadness over news that Ian Saxelby will not play this season following surgery on his right bicep.

"It is a really bad blow for myself, the club and, of course, most of all Ian himself," he said. "I haven't seen him bowl in a match, but everyone tells me what an asset he can be to the team.

"We all wish him well and I look forward to seeing him fit and ready for the 2014 season."

A squad of 13 has been named for the Yorkshire game.
