We aim to entertain on Friday - Hamish Marshall previews Glamorgan T20 match
10 June 2015
With an average of 37 and a highest score of 56 Hamish Marshall’s form has helped Gloucestershire to a great start in the NatWest T20 Blast with three wins from their first four matches.
Speaking ahead of the home game against Glamorgan on Friday June 12 the New Zealander offered his thoughts on the secret behind his own success and that of the team.
On the team’s excellent start – which includes a 100% record at the Bristol County Ground, he said:
“We’ve had three wins out for four and the guys are performing well. I think when guys are performing individually Twenty20 is an easier game and everyone gets confidence from that.
“Michael Klinger’s been banging out a lot of runs, we are getting good starts with the bat and Ian Cockbain’s been playing really well. With the bowling, Tom Smith’s performed for us, Benny Howell has bowled well and it has helped us put in some good team performances.”
On the brand of exciting cricket that the side has been playing in recent weeks he said:
“Our basic game plan is to entertain, to play positive cricket - to score runs fast and look to take wickets. If you do that you have got a good chance of winning.
“As a sportsman you want people to turn up and pay their money for an entertaining game and we try and do that – that’s the brand we want to play. On a Friday night here there is no better place to watch sport and enjoy a few pints in the sun.”

And on the threat posed by Friday night’s visitors Glamorgan he said:
“Glamorgan are a good outfit they have a lot of experienced players in T20. Their bating line-ups quite powerful, They’ve got Chris Cooke and Colin Ingram and they bat around Jacques Rudolph so getting him early is often key. They’re an organised side that know how to play Twenty20.”

Glamorgan Team News
Glamorgan go into the match third from bottom of a tight South Group, just two points behind second-placed Gloucestershire who have played a game more.
The Welsh side have won two and lost two this season beating Surrey and Middlesex but losing to Essex and Hampshire.
Last time out, skipper Jacques Rudolph led from the front, making 60 from 43 balls as his side snuck home by four runs.
The South African is one of three Proteas to look out for in the Glamorgan line up along with the hard-hitting Colin Ingram and paceman Wayne Parnell.
The latter is likely to play despite having treatment for a groin injury. Young allrounder David Lloyd has fully recovered from a hamstring strain and is included in a 13 man squad.
Glamorgan Squad:
J. Rudolph(Captain), C. Meschede, C. Ingram, C. Cooke, B. Wright, M. Wallace, W. Parnell, G. Wagg, D. Cosker, M. Hogan, A. Salter, R. Smith, D.Lloyd
What they say…
Glamorgan’s South African batsman Colin Ingram, who struck 91 from 47 balls in their win against Surrey last month, is confident that they can come away from the Bristol County Ground with a victory.
He said: “It is always difficult having to come later in the season needing to string wins together, so it would be great to get them in early. There’s a good spirit around and a good vibe in the dressing room, so I don’t see why we can’t put it together and challenge for a quarter final place.”
