Vitality Blast preview | Somerset vs Gloucestershire
6 July 2024
Gloucestershire face local rivals Somerset in matchday ten of the T20 Vitality Blast on Sunday afternoon, hoping to get back to winning ways following Friday's disappointing DLS defeat at the hands of Kent Spitfires at Cheltenham College.
The latest edition of the West Country derby will Gloucestershire head down the M5 to Taunton with their eyes firmly set on doing the Vitality Blast double over their neighbouring county.
The return fixture in Bristol last month saw Gloucestershire claim a thrilling five-wicket win in front of a packed Seat Unique Stadium crowd.
With nine matches played Gloucestershire find themselves in fifth place in the table on nine points, two off Somerset with five games to play.
Somerset, meanwhile, whose match against Essex Eagles on Friday evening was rained off with a ball bowled, currently sit in third place in the table on 11 points having secured five wins so far this season.
A win for Gloucestershire would be of immense value, lifting them into contention for quarter-final qualification, while a win for Somerset could see them climb into second place in the table with four games to go.
