Vitality Blast Preview | Glamorgan vs Gloucestershire
19 June 2024
Gloucestershire make the short trip across the Bristol channel to take on Glamorgan in Cardiff on Thursday 20th June as the T20 Vitality Blast reaches the halfway point.
The season’s first Severnside derby comes after Gloucestershire secured three points out of a possible four from two tough away fixtures over the weekend. Shire snatched a dramatic tie against Surrey at the Oval on Friday evening before comprehensively beating Kent at Canterbury on Sunday. The much-needed return to form for Mark Alleyne’s side sees Gloucestershire climb to sixth place in the South Group table on five points from six matches. A win against Glamorgan could see Gloucestershire enter the top four if results elsewhere go their way.
In their last outing Gloucestershire romped to a nine-wicket victory against Kent Spitfires, Miles Hammond the star of the show with a career-best 80 from 41 balls. That was during the run-chase in which Gloucestershire chased down Kent’s first innings score of 125 all out with more than eight overs remaining in the match.
Glamorgan, meanwhile, sit once place and one point below Gloucestershire in the South Group table having had two wins, three defeats and one no result in their opening six Blast matches. Glamorgan’s two wins have come against Middlesex at Lord’s and Sussex at Cardiff.
