Van Buuren and Shaw presented with county caps
21 July 2016
Graeme Van Burren and Josh Shaw have been presented with their Gloucestershire county caps.
The pair were formally given their caps by club chairman Roger Cooke during the lunch interval of day two of the Specsavers County Championship match against Leicestershire at Cheltenham.
South African-born allrounder Van Buuren has enjoyed a prolific start to his Glos career scoring 451 First Class runs at an average of 64.42 at the time of writing. The 25-year-old made his highest score of 172 not out in last month’s win over Worcestershire and has made valuable contributions with bat and ball in the club’s table-topping NatWest T20 Blast campaign.
Yorkshire loanee Josh Shaw, 20, has been a regular in Gloucestershire’s four day side since making his First Class debut v Durham MCCU at the Brightside Ground, Bristol earlier this year. The right arm seamer currently has 25 wickets for Gloucestershire including a career-best 4-52 v Northamptonshire.
Shaw’s cap is number 648 while Van Buuren’s is 650 – commemorating their place in the order of players to have represented the county.
