Two weeks to go - Lydia Greenway looks ahead to England Women v Australia at Bristol

9 July 2015

It is just two weeks to go until England Women take on Australia in the Ashes at the Bristol County Ground.

The One Day International on July 23 is the second match of the series which has been dubbed the biggest series in the history of women’s cricket.

Tickets for the game are still available here priced £1 for under 16s and £10 for adults.

In the build up to the eagerly-anticipated clash, England captain Charlotte Edwards, Lydia Greenway and Tammy Beaumont visited Bristol for a special coaching camp featuring 80 of the county’s aspiring female players.

During the day Tammy grabbed hold of the microphone and turned the spotlight on Lydia, quizzing her on all things Ashes.

Favourite Ashes memory?

In 2005 when we won it the same year the men did and got the open top bus ride around London - that was pretty special.

Most feared opponent in the Australia squad?

They’ve got a lot of world-class players in their team. As a unit they are very threatening and they have some good individual players as well. Meg Lanning in particular stepped up to the role of captain.

What are you most looking forward to in this Ashes summer?

The opportunity to play at the different grounds - particularly here at Bristol on July 23. That’s something a lot of the girls who haven’t played here before are excited about. The crowds that we are getting are really increasing and it’s something we are looking forward to.

Who will win the men’s Ashes and what will the score be?

I couldn’t say a scoreline but obviously I hope that England win.
