Two weeks to Blast off: Liddle answers our quick-fire T20 questions

6 May 2016

With two weeks to go until we host Sussex Sharks in the first ever floodlit NatWest T20 Blast match in Bristol we caught up with new signing (and former Shark) Chris Liddle.

Below are his answers to our top 10 quick-fire T20 questions…

1. Who’s the biggest hitter in the Glos dressing room?

Benny Howell

2. If you had to pick one bowler to bowl the last over of the 2016 NatWest Blast final for Glos who would you go for?

I’d have to go for Jack Taylor. He’s done it before and is hard to get away. He’s also a pretty cool customer and can handle the pressure.

3. Which Gloucestershire player has the safest pair of hands?

Chris Dent

4. Who’s the best T20 player you have played with?

It has to be Luke Wright when I was at Sussex. He won so many games pretty much single-handedly for us.

5. Who’s the best T20 player you have played against?

It is a bit of a strange one but I would say Neil McKenzie when he was at Hampshire. I couldn’t get him out, he didn’t face many dots and hit the ball in strange areas. I found him really hard to bowl at.

6. What is your best NatWest T20 Blast memory?

Taking 5-17 at Lord’s – it doesn’t get much better than a five wicket haul at the Home of Cricket.

7. Apart from Gloucestershire which team are you tipping to be a force in this year’s T20 Blast?

It is hard to go against the current holders Lancashire. They have a strong team, they have done it before and if they have Jos Buttler available then they will be a tough team to beat.

8. Which ground are you most looking forward to playing at in the T20 Blast and why?

The Brightside Ground, Bristol. I’ve only experienced a couple of games here and that was as an away player. I am looking forward to seeing what the home crowd are like – especially under the lights.

9. What will be the next innovation on the field in T20 cricket?

I reckon it will be someone that can bowl right or left handed. They will stand at the end of their run-up and you won’t know what they are going to bowl.

10. What’s the funniest or most unusual thing you have seen at a T20 Blast game?

There was a streaker that ran on at Hove last year. The security guy tried to rugby tackle him but didn’t get a good grip. He sort of slid down and ended up on the floor while the streaker ran away.

Tickets for the opening encounter against Sussex on Friday 20 May (6.30pm) are available online. Tickets for U18's are just £3 in advance. Click here to secure your tickets
