Tough Day For Bowlers At Northampton

3 August 2013

Gloucestershire's bowlers were made to toil as Kyle Coetzer and David Sales hit centuries on the second day of the LV=County Championship match at Northampton.

Northants closed on 369-3 in the first innings, leading by 11 runs, and will be looking to build a meaningful advantage in the morning.

Opener Coetzer hit 122 and the experienced Sales 126 not out as the pitch lived up to Hamish Marshall's prediction following his first day hundred.

There was a wicket for young spinner Tom Shrewsbury, who broke an opening stand of 170 by having Stephen Peters caught behind for 87.

Benny Howell later sent back Coetzer and James Fuller accounted for Alex Wakely, but they couldn't prevent the home side establishing a commanding position.

Tom Smith was the most economical Gloucestershire bowler, sending down 24 overs for 59 runs, while Will Gidman conceded 60 from his 20 overs.
