Top 10 reasons to visit the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival

6 July 2015

The Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival returns this week. The oldest cricket festival  in the world has become a firm fixture in the county’s sporting and social calendars with more than 25,000 packing into the historic College Ground during the two week event.

Take a look at our top 10 reasons to visit the festival this year!

1. Location

The Cheltenham College ground has a rich cricketing history. WG Grace played in the first ever match at Cheltenham College in 1872 and helped secure a win over Surrey. Although it has changed out of all recognition since the inaugural event, one thing that hasn’t changed is the warm welcome extended to supporters from across the country.

Always seen as one of the top out-grounds on the county circuit, there are few more idyllic places to watch top class sport than the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival. Whether you are sitting in the stands or find your own vantage point - you are guaranteed a beautiful backdrop and a first class view of the action.

2. Tickets

There were two sell-out matches in 2014 and we are on course for another packed out ground for our two NatWest T20 Blast matches this year. The group offer, of a discount when purchasing 5 or more tickets has been extremely popular. Get your friends and family together and make a day of it this year, [buy tickets]

3. Kids

The Festival is famed for its family-friendly atmosphere and young supporters are especially welcome. As well as the action on the field, children can test their skills in the inflatable bowling net – complete with speedometer – or visit the Coaching Zone which is manned by ECB qualified coaches.

We also look forward to welcoming hundreds of school children to the festival this year as part of our annual schools day.

4. NatWest T20 Blast

If you want an action packed afternoon of cricket, then join us on the 12 or 14 July (or both!) for the NatWest T20 Blast. Watch Gloucestershire go toe-to-toe as they hunt down a place in the quarter-finals.

5. Hospitality

An estimated 3,500 people are set to take advantage of the corporate hospitality on offer at the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival this year. The event is a wonderful place to catch up with clients, make new contacts or reward colleagues for their hard work. With a range of stylish dining tents, delicious menus and great views of the cricket, the festival is one of the country’s top destinations for combining business, fine-dining and sport. 6. Events

Every year there are plenty of events taking place at the festival, before, during and after the cricket, this year is no exception. BBQ nights, and a Mike Tindall dinner are just some of the events available in 2015. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets.

7. Food & Drink

This year we are delighted to have the Gloucestershire Arms on board as the main public bar. They will be providing entertainment throughout the festival including live music and after party drinks. We will also have catering facilities around the ground including a choice of healthy and vegetarian options.

8. Players close up

From current first team members wandering around the ground to legends of the game chatting in a hospitality tent, Cheltenham offers a more relaxed setting than many other grounds. Jack Russell and Mike Procter were just two of the famous faces who were out and about during the festival last year.

With the barrier between fans and players greatly diminished there is every chance of grabbing an autograph or a friendly word with all manner of big names.

9. Ladies' Day

Ladies Day continues to get bigger and bigger each year and once again our hospitality for the day has sold out! Ladies Day is Thursday 9th July, and guests will enjoy food & drink whilst enjoying first class cricket from a pitchside marquee.

10. Runs

The smaller boundary at the festival can only mean one thing.....runs! With Michael Klinger in the top 3 run scorers in the NatWest T20 Blast and opposition teams expected to bring big hitters, we could be in for a two-week run fest!
