To help you with your decision, we are doing one feature a week. The fifth feature in the series of moments is Tom Smith’s winning runs in the cider derby against Somerset at the Bristol County Ground in the Vitality Blast.

The thrilling T20 encounter between Gloucestershire and Somerset went to the final over of the match. Somerset’s Ollie Sale began the over with Gloucestershire needing 13 runs for victory. The over got off to a flyer with Benny Howell hitting two boundaries, but there was another twist then he was caught at long-off.

Three runs were still required when Tom Smith faced the last ball, which he smote over wide long-on for four to loud cheers from Gloucestershire fans in the flats adjoining the ground. It was certainly an unforgettable moment in Gloucestershire’s Vitality Blast campaign, Smith’s winning runs also resulted in Somerset’s elimination from the competition.
