Three Peak Success

6 August 2013

Everyone from BS7 Gym & Gloucestershire County Cricket Club would like to say a big well done to Jules, Bernadette, David, Tasha, Martina & Clive for completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge and raising over £2000 for the Alzheimer’s Society. A big mention must also go to Maggie who was a huge support to the team, and provided that extra bit of motivation to keep the team going.

Jules said: “Raising over £2000 for the Alzheimer’s Society is a great achievement in itself, thank you to everyone who donated & sponsored us.”

“I was so pleased to finish the walk, my legs have only just recovered and it has been 5 days since the Three Peak Challenge! Although it was extremely difficult, the atmosphere within the group was fantastic and that made the whole experience memorable.”

The team began the day with a 5.00 am wake up and then went on to begin the climb of the first peak Pen-y-Ghent (694m) at 7.00 am. Next was the climb of Whernside (736m) and then onto Ingleborough (723m). The BS7 team completed the race in various times from 9 hours to 12 hours. An excellent achievement.

David added: “It was a fantastic feeling to finish the challenge; everyone was applauding each other at the bottom of the third peak whilst the medals were given out. The whole day felt like a real moment of companionship. Over 300 people took part, all for a great cause.”

"Looking up at the peak of the third mountain was probably the worst moment and mentally exhausting, but there was no way I wasn’t going to finish it!”
