Thisara Perera signs for opening two away matches
5 July 2018
Gloucestershire Cricket are delighted to announce the signing of Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera who will be joining Gloucestershire for the first two away matches in the Vitality Blast this year.
Perera will be available for selection against:
Somerset @ Cooper Associates Ground - Fri 6 July
Middlesex @ Uxbridge Sports Club - Sun 8 July
A T20 World Cup winner who has over 100 appearances for Sri Lanka in One-Day Internationals and 73 International T20 appearances, Perera will bring bags of talent and experience to the Gloucestershire dressing room.
The 29-year old, who hit the winning runs in the ICC World Twenty 20 Final in 2014 and has played in T20 tournaments all around the globe, is an aggressive left-handed batsman who can hit big sixes in death overs whilst being a skillful right-arm medium-fast bowler.
Gloucestershire fans will be familiar with Thisara after playing for the Shire in the campaign last year.
Gloucestershire Chief Executive Will Brown expressed his delight, he said: "Having a player of Thisara's quality join the Club is a huge coup for Gloucestershire. He played well for us last year and we know that his experience playing in both the Big Bash and the IPL will be invaluable in the opening away fixtures."
Andrew Tye will be joining up with the Gloucestershire squad for the first home match on Wednesday 11 July when we face Kent Spitfires in Bristol at 6.30pm.
