Teams selected for Gloucestershire Pathway vs Seniors T20 match at Cheltenham

Gloucestershire Cricket is pleased to announce we will host a one-off Pathway vs Seniors T20 exhibition match at the 2024 Towergate Cheltenham Cricket Festival.

Taking place on Friday 12th July, the match will represent a celebration of Gloucestershire Cricket and will see some of Gloucestershire’s exciting young players take on a seniors team made up of Gloucestershire’s over 50s, 60s and 70s.

Open to all current pathway players and parents as well as members of the public, the free-to-attend showcase match will begin at 1pm and will be followed by a series of masterclasses for those looking to gain more insight into the inner works of a First-Class County.

A pizza van serving stone baked pizzas and a bar will be open throughout the event which will take place on the grounds of the historic Cheltenham College.

Pathway vs Seniors T20 timings:

Gates open: 12:30pm

Match starts: 1pm - 4pm

Food stall: Available all day

Masterclasses: From 4:45pm until 6:30pm (est.)

Bar open: 12:30pm – 6:30pm

The masterclasses will take place in The Hub (the tent next to the large scoreboard at the Chapel End of the ground) and will be delivered by a number of special guests.

Pathway masterclasses:

4.45pm – Introduction with Neil Priscott, Interim CEO at Gloucestershire Cricket

5.00pm to 5:20pm – The importance of Strength & Conditioning within Pathway Cricket, with Chris Gibson (Gloucestershire’s Talent Pathway S&C). The session will provide an insight into how S&C aids young cricketers to become stronger athletes on and off field. Chris will pass on tips and pointers to both players and parents on the type of exercises that can be done on and off the field to ensure you can be in tip-top condition to benefit your game. Before working at Gloucestershire, Chris was selected for Nottinghamshire’s Academy before studying in the field in Cardiff.

5:30pm to 5:50pm – Psychology in Cricket and improving the mental aspect of your game with Marcus Nel (Gloucestershire Lead Psychologist). Marcus Nel will sharing his wealth of knowledge on the benefits of psychology within Cricket and certain methods which can assist your game. Marcus currently works with our 1xi and Academy, and will provide a great insight from his past experiences working with the Bristol Bears & Bristol City FC.

Ten minute break

6pm to 6:30pm – Q&A with Rachel Priest (White Ferns International Cricketer) – Rachel Priest will be joining us to field questions on her glowing career as an international cricketer along with the steps she took to progress from pathway to professional. Rachel played in played 87 ODIs and 75 T20Is for New Zealand, scoring more than 2,500 runs across all formats, having enjoyed a 13-year career with the White Ferns.

On the day 

Parking will be available for all on College Lawn, off Thirlestaine Road, next to Cheltenham College.

Entrance to the ground will be available via the College Lawn entrance and the Members' Gate.

The Pig and Pallet will be open for drinks only from 12:30pm as will a pizza van serving woodfired pizzas (gluten free bases and vegan options available). Please note, the Towergate Cheltenham Cricket Festival is a card-only event.

Jacks Coffee Shack will also be open from 12:30pm serving freshly brewed artisan coffee. 

Spectators are encouraged to watch the match from the Chapel/Pavilion end of the ground where possible.
