VIDEO: A message from England Skipper Edwards - 1 week to go!

It's just one week until the Bristol County Ground hosts the Women's Royal London One-Day International between England and Australia.

Today, England Skipper, Charlotte Edwards has asked the people of Bristol to show their support on Thursday, July 23.

Edwards (captain) will be aiming to lead England to a third consecutive Women’s Ashes series victory this summer, with a very experienced ODI squad named for the first three fixtures of the multi-format series.

The Women’s Ashes series will start on 21 July with the first Royal London ODI at the County Ground in Taunton.  The players will then play the second Royal London ODI at the Bristol County Ground on 23 July, before the third and final 50-over match takes place at Worcestershire’s New Road on 26 July.

Gloucestershire will have a player on the field for the game at the Bristol County Ground. after Izzy Patel from Frenchay CC was chosen to be mascot.

Izzy, a year five pupil from St Augustine’s RC Primary in Downend will lead the teams out after being chosen for the honour by the Chance to Shine cricket charity who fund much of the Gloucestershire Cricket Board’s (GCB) work in schools.

Izzy joined Frenchay three years ago after taking part in a Chance To Shine girls after school club run by Frenchay coaches at her school.

She recently jointly led Frenchay U11 Girls to the Lady Taverners County Championship. She has also become the first (of two) girls from St Augustine’s to represent Gloucestershire.
