Statement following ECB update
24 April 2020
On behalf of the Club, and further to today’s announcement from the England & Wales Cricket Board, including that no professional cricket would be played here before July, I would like to send an update to our members, supporters, sponsors and partners on our 2020 cricket season.
Firstly, I hope that everyone is safe and well in these difficult, unprecedented times. It has been incredibly frustrating for everyone associated with the Club to see such glorious ‘cricket’ weather, a fabulous-looking ground, and no cricket taking place due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It has also been sad to see the postponement of so many off-field events scheduled to take place to celebrate the Club’s 150th year. All this being said, however, everyone at the Club has a global perspective on what we’re all living through, and we are looking forward to celebrating our milestone – both on and off the field – at the appropriate time. Our thoughts remain with all the people affected by this crisis, including of course the heroic NHS personnel who are working tirelessly to combat Coronavirus.
I would also like to thank all those Members and supporters who have purchased tickets and hospitality for matches prior to July for their ongoing patience as we work with the ECB to put together a rescheduled fixture calendar. There is no doubt that the Cheltenham Festival, for example, will now change in its nature, but we can reassure everyone that all ticket and hospitality bookings for either Bristol or Cheltenham will now be valid for matches that we hope will be rescheduled for later in the Summer; we will of course write to you all as soon as new fixture dates are confirmed. Of course, if you have any specific enquiries, you may contact Club offices via the ticketing@glosccc.co.uk or hospitality@glosccc.co.uk email addresses. We thank you for your understanding that response times may be slightly longer than normal in the current circumstances.
Club Members will appreciate that the season now looks very different from what was originally envisaged; again, we would like to thank you all for your patience as we work through these amended plans with our colleagues at the ECB and other Counties. We are mindful that we have a hugely engaged and supportive membership, and as soon as the re-jigged 2020 schedule is confirmed, we will of course be in touch to confirm the new arrangements. As ever, any specific enquiries can be sent to membership@glosccc.co.uk.
Please do stay in touch with the Club through our various digital channels where we still have lots of regular updates, quizzes and polls as well as Club news and, once again, thank you for your patience and support. We wish you and your loved ones all the very best at this very difficult time.
