Saxelby In Squad Of 12 For Cardiff

18 April 2014

Ian Saxelby has been named Gloucestershire's squad of 12 for the LV=County Championship match against Glamorgan at Cardiff, starting on Sunday.

The popular seam bowler, fit again after shoulder, knee and quad muscle problems, is fresh from taking six wickets in the drawn second XI friendly against Glamorgan at Cardiff Cricket Club.

Ian was also named in the squad for the opening Championship game against Hampshire, but it was felt he needed one more game to be fully match sharp after having his preparation for the season interrupted by the quad injury and Matt Taylor got the nod for the final eleven.

The young left-arm seamer responded with his first five-wicket haul in Championship cricket and will be hoping to retain his place on Sunday.

James Fuller and Will Gidman complete the seam bowling options. If Saxelby is not selected, Gloucestershire will retain the team beaten by Hampshire at Bristol.

Glamorgan have already beaten Surrey by ten wickets at The Oval in the Championship and will be in confident mood.

But Michael Klinger believes his side are capable of stepping up on their opening performance will be looking for a first victory of the campaign.

The team will be selected from the following 12 man squad: Michael Klinger (capt), Chris Dent, Will Tavare, Alex Gidman, Hamish Marshall, Will Gidman, Cameron Herring (wkt), Tom Smith, James Fuller, Matt Taylor, David Payne and Ian Saxelby.
