Shrubsole to miss Western Storm opener

England and Western Storm seamer Anya Shrubsole has suffered a small side strain and will sit out her side’s Kia Super League opener, against Southern Vipers at the Ageas Bowl on Thursday 10 August.

It will be a big loss for Storm. Supporters will no doubt remember the fantastic performance by Anya in the ICC Women's World Cup Final against India on Sunday 23 July at Lord's.

While Western Storm’s second game – against Loughborough Lightning at Taunton on Saturday 12 August – may also come too soon for Shrubsole, it is hoped that she will recover in time to play a full part against Yorkshire Diamonds on Sunday 20 August.
