Shrewsbury In Squad To Face Glamorgan
23 September 2013
Tom Shrewsbury looks set to return to Gloucestershire’s team for the final LV=County Championship game of the season against Glamorgan at Cardiff, starting tomorrow.
The 18-year-old off-spinner has been named in a squad of 13 and looks likely to make his first appearance since the Championship match against Northamptonshire at Northampton at the beginning of last month.
That is Tom’s only first class game to date, but he has already played at Cardiff this season in the Friends Life t20 game against Glamorgan.
More recently Tom took 6-36 and match figures of 8-69 in a second XI fixture against the Scotland Development team at the County Ground.
With Michael Klinger having returned to Australia, Hamish Marshall will captain Gloucestershire against Glamorgan.
Gareth Roderick is likely to open with Chris Dent and Cameron Herring has been named in the squad as another wicketkeeping option.
Ian Cockbain is also in the 13 and could claim a middle order batting place.
Will Gidman goes into the match needing one wicket for 50 in first class cricket this summer, while Hamish Marshall needs 36 runs to reach 1,000 first class runs.
