Second XI In T20 Finals Day

12 July 2013

Owen Dawkins is hoping Gloucestershire can eclipse their performance of two years ago when appearing in this season's Second XI T20 Finals Day today at Arundel.

The club's Academy Director has overseen an excellent campaign for the seconds, which includes pipping Somerset on net run rate to win their group and qualify for the T20 semi-finals.

Gloucestershire will play Surrey in the second match at Arundel, starting at 1.45pm, with the first semi-final being between Middlesex and Durham.

Owen Dawkins told this website: "We reached Finals Day two seasons ago, but unfortunately lost to Durham in the semi-finals.

"Hopefully, we can go one better this year and give ourselves a chance of lifting the trophy."

Gloucestershire had to play eight games to reach Finals Day, facing each of their four group rivals twice.

They beat Somerset and Glamorgan in both matches and won one and lost one against Worcestershire and Warwickshire.

The event at Arundel comes just a day after Gloucestershire complete a three-day Second XI match against MCC Universities at Cheltenham Cricket Club and the team will travel straight from that fixture to Finals Day.
