Sayers Signs
4 June 2019
Gloucestershire Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of Australian opening bowler Chadd Sayers who will be joining the team in time to face Sussex on Tuesday 11th June.
Renowned for his accurate swing bowling, Sayers will be joining a Gloucestershire side in prime position to push for promotion to Division 1 of the Specsavers County Championship.
Chadd will be with the Gloucestershire squad until Thursday 25 July. Sayers also has the option to play for Gloucestershire in the two Vitality Blast fixtures that will take place at the Cheltenham Cricket Festival.
"I am delighted to be heading to Gloucestershire for part of the 2019 season. It has always been an ambition of mine to play County cricket and I'm really looking forward to getting started,” Chadd said. “Hopefully I can help the team as they push for promotion from Division 2."
The swing bowler made his Test debut for Australia in 2018, taking the prize scalp of AB de Villiers for his first Test wicket. A first-class cricket specialist, Sayers is unlike most other Australian bowlers in the modern era relying on precision and swing to tease batsmen into making vital mistakes.
