Ryan Higgins signs for Gloucestershire Cricket on three year deal

2 October 2017

Gloucestershire has completed the signing of Middlesex all-rounder Ryan Higgins on a three year contract until the end of the 2020 season.

Higgins, who has represented England at Under 19 level, burst onto the scene in 2014 with an outstanding unbeaten 44 in his senior debut to help Middlesex to victory in their first NatWest T20 Blast victory that season.

The 22-year-old middle order batsman, who is a regular for Middlesex in the one-day format, will join up with his Gloucestershire team mates this winter and will be a key addition to Richard Dawson's squad.

Gloucestershire supporters will have witnessed Higgins in action this season when he played for Middlesex in the opening match of the Cheltenham Cricket Festival.

In front of a sold-out NatWest T20 Blast festival crowd, Higgins was the star man hitting a magnificent 68 off 28 balls, including six 6's and four 4's in a match which ended in a tie. Watch here.

On signing for Gloucestershire, Ryan Higgins said: "I’m really excited to be joining Gloucestershire. I enjoyed working with Richard Dawson during my time with the England Under 19’s and am aware of the young talent within the squad he has put together.

"I am keen to continue with the development of my game in the next few years with a special emphasis on my red ball batting. The key though, of course, is to contribute to team success which I am confident can be achieved."

"I would like to thank the coaches at Middlesex for their help over the last few years. I wish them all the best for 2018 and beyond."

Head Coach, Richard Dawson, added: "It is great to have Ryan join us. He has a lot of potential in all formats of the game and has already shown that he is a very dangerous T20 and one day player. He will definitely add to our squad over the next three years.”
