Rogers Returns
6 April 2019
Gloucestershire Cricket is thrilled to announce the arrival of former Australian opening batsman, Chris “Bucky” Rogers for his second stint at the Club.
Chris will be re-joining Head Coach Richard Dawson and the rest of the coaching staff until the end of April.
“It’s a great chance to work with and learn from Richard and the coaches and provide support for the players if I can” Chris said.
After a successful spell last year working closely with the 1st XI and development squads, Chris is linking back up with the Club in an effort to aid and develop the team in all areas of the game.
Last season, Chris was with the team for three Specsavers County Championship games. This season he will be with the coaching staff for one County Championship game as well as the Royal London One-Day Cup group games.
Chris brings a wealth of experience having spent almost eight years with the Australian national side and 12 seasons of first class county cricket in England.
In 2018 Chris was appointed as Australia’s High Performance Coach tasked with developing the next generation of cricketers. His invaluable knowledge will be a welcome boost to all members of the squad as they prepare for what will hopefully turn out to be a successful season.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how the guys have been developing and what they’ve been working on.”
“Bucky” was an influential character in the Gloucestershire dressing room last season and we are looking forward to seeing him get re-acquainted with the team.
