Roderick's Hits 175 In Second XI Draw
8 May 2013
Gareth Roderick was dismissed for 175 before the three-day friendly between Gloucestershire IIs and Glamorgan IIs at Newport was abandoned as a draw because of rain.
The wicketkeeper-batsman shared a stand of 206 with Will Tavare, nephew of former Kent and England batsman Chris Tavare, who was out shortly before the close for of day two for 78.
The pair had prospered against a Glamorgan attack including ex-England seamer Simon Jones as Gloucestershire replied to the home side's 236 with 375-9 declared before the rain came.
Trialist seamer Steve Cheetham, formerly with Lancashire, took 5-50 in the Glamorgan innings, while Matt Taylor returned 3-56.
Tavare is a product of the Gloucestershire Academy, who went on to Loughborough University, and is currently playing his club cricket for Bristol CC.
The next second XI fixture is a one-day Trophy game away to Essex next Tuesday followed by a three-day Championship fixture against the same opponents, starting on Wednesday.
