Roderick Back To Face Somerset Tonight
16 May 2014
Gareth Roderick is set to make his return after injury in tonight’s big NatWest T20 Blast game against Somerset at Bristol (5.30pm start).
The wicketkeeper-batsman has missed the LV=County Championship campaign to date because of a broken finger sustained in the warm-up during a pre-season game against Somerset.
Ian Cockbain is also likely to make his first appearance of the season this evening, joining Benny Howell in adding some quick run scoring ability to the middle order
Director of Cricket John Bracewell said: “Ian has been among our top one-day batsman for the last two seasons.
“Benny is also one of our stronger one-day players, with a good head on his shoulders for that format.”
Liam Norwell will contest one of the seam bowling positions, along with James Fuller and Graeme McCarter, but neither David Payne nor Craig Miles is in the squad following their injury problems so far this season. Ian Saxelby is also ruled out.
Tom Smith and Jack Taylor are in the 13, giving skipper Michael Klinger the option of two spinners.
Somerset has named new T20 signing Dirk Nannes in a squad of 15 for the game, which is sure to draw a packed crowd.
