Proper Cornish announces sponsorship of Cornish cricket star Liam Norwell
15 December 2015
Bodmin-based pasty maker Proper Cornish, has today announced its principle sponsorship of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club’s fast bowler, Liam Norwell.
Liam, who represented Cornwall from U11 to U17 before signing a professional contract with Gloucestershire, further strengthens his ties with the peninsular county by teaming up with the UK’s leading handmade Cornish pasty manufacturer and experts in filled savoury pastry products.
This sponsorship is testament to Proper Cornish’s continued support of the South West community, made all the more apt by Liam’s nickname – Pasty – underlining the shared love of the county’s most well-known and loved food product. Proper Cornish products will also be available on match days at Bristol County Ground, the home of Gloucestershire CCC, so fans can enjoy one great Cornish export in the stands while supporting another on the field.
Mark Muncey (pictured) marketing director at Proper Cornish commented: “Cornwall is of course close to our hearts, so we’re delighted to be able to contribute to the success of one of our sporting stars. After meeting Liam, it became clear what a fantastic role model he is. Liam will make a great ambassador for Proper Cornish, Cornwall and our beloved pasty.”
Liam added: “I have strong ties to Cornwall having started my cricket career here and being nicknamed “Pasty”, my teammates know how much I love a traditional Cornish pasty! When the chance came along to link up with Proper Cornish, it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”
