Professional Counties Reach 30 Million Live Stream Views

18 December 2024

2024 was another remarkable season for County Cricket.

However, it wasn’t just the on-field action that was impressive.

The 2024 English summer saw the continued growth, improvement and diversification of the 18 Professional County live stream products.

Ten years ago, the live streaming of the domestic game had been contemplated by the majority of the Professional Counties. But, as the 2025 season looms large on the horizon, such streams have become an integral element of the County Cricket experience for Members, supporters and counties alike.

Since its inception, live stream production has evolved from an embargo of the previous day’s clips to award-winning multi-camera live broadcast productions, and 2024 saw a record number of views.

Last season, more than 30 million views were collectively recorded from the live streams of all 18 Professional Counties.

Across the 2024 season, Gloucestershire's live stream production amassed over 1.1 million views, with a total watch time of 220,000 hours.

The Club's final day tie with Glamorgan at Cheltenham College was viewed almost 50,000 times, with James Bracey's stunning one-handed grab clinching the tie in dramatic fashion.

Gloucestershire's most watched home match was the Vitality Blast clash against Middlesex at the college, with over 45,000 unique viewers watching the penultimate Cheltenham T20 group game.

The progress made in a relatively short space of time is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all those working behind the scenes at the 18 Professional Counties and the support that they have received from the ECB.

As the saying goes, mighty oaks from little acorns grow and that has certainly been the case when it comes to the live streaming of the County game.

Perhaps most importantly thanks must go to the Members and supporters of the 18 Clubs. Without an audience, there is no product and therefore the viewership and feedback from those at the other end of the broadcast have been crucial to the development and improvement of these productions.
