Players looking forward to Cheltenham Festival - Fuller

13 July 2014

James Fuller says the players can’t wait for the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival which starts tomorrow (July 14).

Speaking at the College Ground at the recent schools Kwik Cricket finals day, the fast bowler said the two week event was highlight of the year.

He said: “All the players love playing here, it is probably our favourite two weeks of the whole season – mainly because of the atmosphere. You get two or three thousand people most days and because it’s such a small ground there’s a real intensity about the crowd and the guys love playing in front of it.”

The 2014 festival kicks off with a four-day LV County Championship match v Derbyshire starting on July 14 before a NatWest T20 Blast match against Surrey on Friday July 18. They also play Essex in the shortest form of the game on July 20 before a Championship match versus neighbours Worcestershire from July 21-24. The fortnight comes to a close with a Royal London 50 over match against Northants on July 27.

Fuller is likely to miss out on this year’s festival through injury but there is better news regarding wicketkeeper/batsman Gareth Roderick (pictured in the video). He is in contention to return to first team action during the second week of Cheltenham after playing for the 2nd XI as a batsman against Yorkshire this week.
