Payne To Miss Essex Match
25 April 2014
David Payne has been ruled out of Gloucestershire’s team for the LV=County Championship match with Essex at Bristol, starting on Sunday.
The left-arm seamer is under treatment for a bruised heel, having been unable to bowl in the second innings of the last match against Glamorgan at Cardiff.
Payne’s absence could make way for Ian Saxelby to make his first appearance of the season after impressing in the second XI.
Graeme McCarter has also been named in a squad of 12 and the final eleven will be selected after assessing conditions on Sunday.
Skipper Michael Klinger says it is important that Gloucestershire build on the progress made against Glamorgan
He told this website: “We have some momentum from that game going into the Essex match and need to maintain it.
“There were so many positives to take out of the fixture at Cardiff and we can feel confident ahead of another tough game.”
