Payne out for start of season

22 March 2018

Left arm seam bowler David Payne will miss the start of the 2018 season. He is due to undergo surgery on his ankle next week.

Payne was Gloucestershire’s leading wicket taker in the Vitality Blast last year with 17 scalps. He was also a key bowler in first class cricket in 2017 with 28 wickets in 11 matches.

Gloucestershire Head Coach Richard Dawson said: “David Payne will be unavailable for the start of the season as he will be undergoing ankle surgery.”

There will be a period of rehabilitation and David will be closely monitored by our medical team to ensure he gets back onto the field as soon as possible.
