Payne Enjoying Life Down Under
18 November 2013
David Payne has made an excellent start to his winter in Australia with both bat and ball.
The 22-year-old left-arm seamer is attending the Darren Lehmann Academy, while also playing A-grade cricket for West Torrens.
On his debut for the Academy team, David claimed figures of 6-17 against Papua New Guinea in Adelaide.
And for West Torrens the Gloucestershire player hit 82 in a club match, having arrived at the crease with his team in trouble at 55-6.
David shared a partnership of 224 with Carl Mickan, hitting 7 fours and a six in an innings which backed his claims to becoming a genuine all-rounder.
He is planning to spend Christmas in Melbourne and attend the Boxing Day Ashes Test Match.
