One Day Cup preview | Notts Outlaws vs Gloucestershire
8 August 2024
Gloucestershire head to Trent Bridge to take on Notts Outlaws on Friday for the final away trip of the Metro Bank One Day Cup group stage.
The pivotal clash is must-win for both sides who are level on points in the Group B table. Notts, who do have a game in hand over Gloucestershire, sit in the all-important third qualification spot while Gloucestershire sit just behind them in fourth place. Both teams are on six points, four off the top two, and could do with a win on Friday as the race for qualification for the knock-out stages heats up.
Gloucestershire find themselves well-placed having secured an emphatic eight wicket win over Sussex Sharks in Bristol on Wednesday. Having won the toss and elected to field first, Gloucestershire’s bowling attack strangled the batting of Sussex, with the visitors only able to muster a score of 132/9 from 41 overs. Ajeet Singh Dale with career-best figures of 4-15 and Zaman Akhter with 3-29 were the influential bowlers in what was a pacey Gloucestershire attack.
Set 133 to win, Miles Hammond with 46 off 28 and Cameron Bancroft with 49 off 53 did the damage early doors and Shire ran out as eventual winners just 20 overs into the second innings.
Notts, meanwhile, have won three of their last five matches and in their last outing, defeated Surrey by 107 runs in Guildford.

Mark Thorburn selects a 14-man squad for the trip to the East Midlands. Ed Middleton replaces Matt Taylor (rested) in the only change from the squad that faced Sussex Sharks.
