All-rounder Ollie Price extends Gloucestershire contract to 2026
4 April 2024
Gloucestershire all-rounder Ollie Price has signed a one-year-contract extension at the Club.
The new deal for 22-year-old Price will see him stay at Gloucestershire until at least the end of the 2026 season. The awarding of a new contract comes following a career-best season in Gloucestershire colours for Price, who scooped four awards at Shire’s annual End of Season Dinner Gala in October including Batter of the Year and two Player of the Year accolades.
The right-hand bat and right arm off spinner was a standout performer in First-Class and List A cricket last season, scoring 763 runs at an average of 42.38 in the County Championship and 575 runs at 82.14 in the Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign. Price’s exploits with the bat last season saw him score five centuries and five half-centuries across both formats, with his performances in the Metro Bank One Day Cup helping to propel Shire to the semi-final stage of the competition.
A talented slip fielder also, Price claimed 30 catches across all competitions last season and was one of only three players in Division Two of the County Championship to take 20 or more catches last season.
Just reward for his impressive performances for Gloucestershire, Price was called up to the England Lions squad for the team’s recent tour of India during which he came within two runs of an international half-century in the second Test vs India A in Ahmedabad.
Speaking of his excitement at committing his future to Gloucestershire, Price said: “I'm really proud and excited to resign with Glos. The club has been really supportive ever since I started in the academy, and it’s a privilege to continue my journey here.
“There have been some challenging times over the last couple of years but we’ve got a really tight group of talented players and we are determined to show how good we can be. I can’t wait to try and play a big part in things moving forward as we begin the new season.”
A product of the Gloucestershire Cricket Academy, Ollie Price is the younger brother and teammate of Tom Price and has been in the ranks at Gloucestershire since 2016.
In his career so far, Price has scored 1,365 first-class runs from 25 matches at an average of 31. In List A cricket, he has scored 831 runs from 20 matches at an average of 51.93 and has notched 193 runs from 11 innings in the T20 format. A tricky bowler to face, Price has also claimed 27 career wickets across all formats.
Mark Alleyne, Head Coach at Gloucestershire Cricket, commented: “I’m really delighted Ollie is the latest player to extend his contract with the Club.
“Ollie’s game is evolving really well and it’s great the next and most vital part of his continued development will take place right here with the Glosters.
“Ollie is an integral part of our growth as a cricket team and his commitment to us is really well received by his teammates and the coaching staff. Ollie is truly multi-skilled cricketer and excels across many disciplines. Ollie backs this up with a superb work ethic and attitude, and I look forward to developing our relationship further as the season unfolds.”
