Note for Members from Acting Chair Steve Nelson

3 June 2024

Dear Member,

The Gloucestershire County Cricket Club board met last week. We had a positive and very useful meeting that represented a step change in how we will operate and communicate. Following the meeting we have two important bits of information to share:

We would like to invite you to a members meeting on Tuesday 18 June, 7-9pm at the Seat Unique Stadium.

The meeting will take place in the Grace Room in the Pavilion; doors will be open at 6pm and the Grace Room bar will be open for refreshments.

This meeting will also be available to view online (specific joining details will be sent to Members a week in advance, but please note we will not be able to facilitate questions on the night for those viewing online).

This meeting will cover the following:

  • Update on this year’s budget and budgeting process
  • Update on interim leadership arrangements and recruitment of key appointments including Chair and CEO
  • More detail on last year’s accounts, addressing topics raised by the questions recently put to the board by a number of members
  • There will also be time for questions and to hear from our new Interim Treasurer

The board is working quickly to put an interim leadership structure in place and has made the following appointments this week:

  • David Graveney will be Interim Deputy Chair and support Steve Nelson, Acting Chair
  • Nick Bryan will be Interim Treasurer and will take over from Becky Watkin immediately.

Last Thursday saw a good start to the T20 competition and it has been great to see the team enjoying themselves on the field and winning games. We are very much looking forward to hosting the next Blast games in Bristol this coming Friday (v Hampshire) and the double header on Sunday (v Sussex, which follows Western Storm v Southern Vipers).

However, as you will be aware, away from the field this is a turbulent time for the club with some significant leadership changes at both staff and board level, alongside ongoing financial challenges. We want to thank you as members for your support through this period and assure you that we will keep you updated and involved as things progress.

Steve Nelson, Acting Chair
