Norwell And Taylor Brothers Sign Extended Deals
6 October 2014
Liam Norwell (right), Jack Taylor (left) and Matt Taylor (centre) have signed extended contracts with Gloucestershire until the end of the 2017 season.
All three young bowlers are seen as having a big part to play in the club’s future, having progressed through the youth ranks and second XI.
Seamer Liam Norwell, 22, took 29 LV=County Championship wickets this season and set a new record score for a Gloucestershire number 11 in first class cricket when making 78 against Worcestershire at Cheltenham.
Off-spinner Jack Taylor, 22, claimed 18 wickets in the two domestic one-day competitions this summer, while also demonstrating his prowess as a hard-hitting batsman.
Left-arm seamer Matt Taylor, 20, younger brother of Jack, took 21 wickets in his first season of regular LV=County Championship cricket this season, appearing in nine matches, despite an enforced lay-off with a shin injury.
Gloucestershire Director of Cricket John Bracewell said: “ I am absolutely delighted to see three more of our talented young bowlers make long-term commitments to the club.
“I believe that they can contribute to a bowling attack, which is getting stronger by the year and can develop into the best in the Championship Second Division next season.”
