22 May 2012
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is pleased to announce that its new Schools and Family Sponsor for 2012 is ITEC.
ITEC is a £15m provider of office print products, production print and document workflow solutions – providing products and services to 1,600 schools, businesses, professional firms and local authorities across the South West.
In partnership with ITEC,Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is embarking on its largest and most ambitious Schools Match Day Coaching Programme ever.
Over the next 3 years it will be providing professional cricket coaching for 2,400 Year 5, Year 6, Year 7 and Year 8 children from schools across Bristol and Gloucestershire.
Alongside the coaching they will be providing 2,400 free tickets for teachers and pupils to attend Friends Life t20 matches, meet the players and collect autographs.
Schools wishing to take part in the programme should contact ukevents@itecgroup.com
Children involved in the programme will also get the chance to offer their mums and dads ticket concessions if they want to get a taste of top class professional cricket, too.
A few lucky pupils will be selected by their schools to act as official mascots for Friends Life t20 matches and at the game against South Africa on 22August. This will include the opportunity to take to the middle with the team Captains for the pre-match coin toss.
Up and coming Academy star, Michael Beard, has been chosen by ITEC as their sponsored player, to act as an ambassador for the Schools Programme and an inspiration for the pupils.
Tim Davies, GCCC’s Commercial Director, said: “At Gloucestershire Cricket we are committed to developing community and youth cricket in the County. ITEC has signed a 3 year deal with us as our first Schools and Family Sponsor and this will allow us to develop a sustainable programme of engagement with the cricketers of the future and their families.”
Gary Tozer, ITEC Sales Director, said “We are thrilled to be working with Gloucestershire Cricket on this exciting programme. To provide professional coaching and a fantastic match day experience to so many children and sports teachers across the region is a great opportunity. We hope that more children will be inspired to take up the game as a result.”
The firm was started in Redland in 1987 and is now celebrating its 25thyear. With existing offices in Bristol, Exeter and Bournemouth the company has trebled in size over the past 3 years and now plans to open a Plymouth office later in the summer.
Kevin Ashley, GCCC’s Commercial Manager, added “ITEC’s investment in the club has allowed us to launch the largest Schools engagement of its kind in the country. It is truly groundbreaking - no County has offered a free coaching and ticketing programme on this scale before.”
