New Bristol Pavilion Officially Opened
26 August 2013
Gloucestershire's new 'Bristol Pavilion' was officially opened by England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Giles Clarke today.
The ceremony took place before the crucial Yorkshire Bank 40 game against Somerset and was witnessed by a large number of supporters who got to the County Ground early.
Host Jed Pitman introduced a presentation celebrating Gloucestershire cricket 'Past, Present and Future', which was shown on the big screen at the ground.
There followed interviews on the pavilion balcony with among others David Allen, Alex Gidman, club chairman Roger Cooke and Tom Richardson.
Tom paid tribute to the role former chairman Rex Body had played in ensuring the pavilion project came to fruition before Giles Clarke was introduced.
He told spectators: "I am very proud to be a Bristolian and just as proud to be opening this marvellous new pavilion."
Among the other past players at the ground to celebrate a memorable day for Gloucestershire were Jack Russell, Mark Alleyne and Chris Broad.
