New Executive Board Member unveiled at 2023 AGM
28 April 2023
Gloucestershire Cricket was delighted to unveil Richard Foley as a new Executive Board Member of the Club at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, 27 April.
Richard, a retired lawyer, replaces David Mclauchlan as an Elected Board Member. David spent six years on the Club’s Executive Board and having stepped down from his position earlier this year, takes up a new role as a Vice President of the Club.
Bristolian, Richard, joins Gloucestershire having enjoyed a 35-year legal career the majority of which – 33 years – was spent at one firm, Pinsent Masons. Until October 2022 when he retired, Richard was the Global CEO and Senior Partner of the internationally renowned organisation, which employs 3,500 people located in 26 offices around the world.
As a practicing lawyer, Richard advised on some of the largest energy, rail, road, airport and port projects in the Middle East, Asia and Europe. As Senior Partner at Pinsent Masons, Richard successfully instilled a way of working that was underpinned by the belief that profit and success comes as a consequence of doing business “the right way and for the right reasons”. Under Richard’s stewardship, the business was transformed to embrace purpose as a strategy.
A cricket fan, Richard was born within a mile of the Seat Unique Stadium and played Bristol & District League cricket for a decade in his 20s and 30s. As well as a passion for the game, Richard brings with him to Gloucestershire an understanding of how to achieve sustainable growth and an over-arching desire to contribute to his hometown club.
Attending Members both in person and online at the AGM also saw the appointment of two more Vice Presidents. John Hollingdale, former Chair of the Executive Board, and Peter Jubb, former Chair of the Gloucestershire Cricket Board (now Foundation), join David Mclauchlan in being elected as Vice Presidents of the Club.
A change to the structure of the Club’s senior leadership team was also confirmed to Members by Chief Executive Will Brown. Deputy Chief Executive, Neil Priscott, has become Chief Operating Officer with immediate effect and is now responsible for the majority of the day-to-day operations of the Club. As CEO, Will Brown will continue to have oversight of all Club affairs including cricket matters but will increasingly focus on the Club’s long-term strategy and developments.
