NEVER SAY DIE - BOOK LAUNCH SUCCESS

2 December 2015

Journalist Tim Lezard has edited a book celebrating Gloucestershire’s triumph in this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup.

With a foreword by BBC cricket correspondent Jonathan Agnew, Never Say Die is a 60-page, full-colour publication charting the county’s road to Lord’s, where they defeated a star-studded Surrey side in a nail-biting final.

Illustrated with stunning photographs by Martin Bennett, Tim Lezard had exclusive access to the players after the game and their frank interviews appear alongside contributions from fans.

Tim Lezard, from Dursley, said: “This book allows readers to relive the game through the eyes of the players and fans who were there. No-one gave this Gloucestershire side a chance but they pulled together and what followed was a triumph of determination, guts and no little skill.”

Read the book to discover:

* what was said behind the closed doors of the changing room at lunchtime

* what did they really think of THAT lbw decision

* which Surrey player admitted he was intimated by the noise of the Gloucestershire fans?

* which player was talking to himself as the last over started

* which player said he could have run around the pitch like a headless chicken for half an hour after winning the match

* which player admitted he needs to work on his celebrations

* which Gloucestershire legend said it was the best cup final win he’s ever seen (and he’s played in a few)

* where did the players end up in the early hours of the morning after

Tim also chatted to coaches Richard Dawson and Ian Harvey about how they masterminded the upset, re-living the final through their eyes as they watched from the Lord’s balcony. And there are match reports and photographs from the two youth games during the lunch break, resulting in victories for Cam and Frampton CCs.

Stylishly designed by Simon Rees and Liz Hickson at Rumba, the book is dotted with tweets and newspaper headlines from around the world.

It is available to buy for £14.99 from the official club shop, click here or from www.neversaydiebook.co.uk.
