Monkey business at County Ground as new mascot arrives by helicopter - with video

30 April 2015

Gloucestershire will be in no mood for monkeying around in this season's NatWest T20 Blast despite the arrival of new mascot Alfred G.Rilla.

Alfred - named after Bristol Zoo's former resident gorilla of the same name is -  kindly provided and sponsored by RS Security.

The new signing arrived at the Bristol County Ground in the style befitting a 'jungle VIP' via helicopter care of the Great Western Air Ambulance Service (GWAAC) – one of the busiest Air Ambulance services in the UK.

Rob Deadman, Managing Director of RS Security and John Christensen, Chief Executive of GWAAC, both took time out of their busy schedules this morning to hang around with Alfred at the Bristol County Ground where they met the Gloucestershire Cricket first team squad and a number of other club sponsors.

Alfred – who was named by competition winner Holly Trubshawe – also made a big hit with 60 Year 2 school children from the Brunel Field, Ashley Down Primary School who went bananas for the club's latest addition.

Rob Deadman said: “As Gloucestershire Cricket’s stewarding and security contractors, we were delighted with the opportunity to get involved with their new signing, Alfred.  We think he will be a great addition to the team and we look forward to seeing him at the T20 matches during the season.”

Alfred is looking forward to meeting all of our members and supporters at the Bristol County Ground on Friday 15 May for our first NatWest T20 Blast match of the season when we take on Middlesex.  To buy your tickets in advance click here.
