Mike Simpson Remembered
10 April 2021
All at Gloucestershire Cricket are saddened to hear of the death of Mike Simpson who passed away on Wednesday (7th April) after a brief illness.
Mike, a Vice-president of the Club, was an absolute stalwart of Gloucestershire Cricket serving on the General, Management and Sponsorship committees. Mike was also Chairman of the Bristol region for a number of years and was integral to the planning and delivery of the highly popular Life Members day at the Cheltenham Cricket Festival and the annual Berkeley Castle dinner. His efforts raised thousands of pounds for the Club.
Mike, along with his wife Betty, also ran cricket-based educational programmes in schools on a voluntary basis, sharing their love of cricket with a whole new generation. A regular at matches both home and away often with Betty he was well known to many around the Club and will be missed by all.
Given the current restrictions the funeral will be a closed service but, when allowed, there will be a memorial service for Mike held at the Bristol County Ground.
Our thoughts are with his wife Betty, son Peter and all their friends at this time.
