Michael Klinger Writes From Australia

26 March 2014

Michael Klinger has sent a personal message to Gloucestershire supporters ahead of the new county season.

The club captain is due to arrive back at the County Ground early next month in time for the opening fixtures.

He writes:

It has been a long summer here in Australia with a very busy cricket schedule.

The Redbacks had a much improved Sheffield Shield season only to fall at the last hurdle and miss the final, which was very disappointing.

Personally, the season has been okay with quite successful one-day and T20 competitions. However, I would have like to be more consistent in four-day cricket, despite some good innings along the way.

Most importantly now, my focus now shifts towards Gloucestershire. My family and I are going to have a short holiday on the way to the UK.

This will be really important for me to refresh and be able to hit the ground running when I arrive in Bristol. It will also enable me to have some quality time with the family as I have been on the road a lot during our summer.

I was so impressed with the club last season. They looked after myself, Cindy and the kids so well, which made playing day in and day out a lot easier.

The new pavilion is brilliant, and most importantly, we have a great bunch of players, coaching staff and support staff.

I think our team has a great mix of youth and experience and look forward to seeing us have continued improvement and building a side that will have sustained success into the future.

I had fantastic support from our senior players last season, which made life a lot easier coming into a new team, and I am looking forward to teaming up with them again.

Together we can continue to guide our younger players to be the best they can be, as well as leading by example ourselves on and off the field.

With the new T20 competition and games mostly on Friday nights, our schedule this year is jam packed.

It will be vital for us to refresh our players during any short breaks between games so we can bring 100 per cent intensity to every contest.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the club and all of our supporters in early April.

Michael
