Michael Klinger and the Perth Scorchers Big Bash Champions
28 January 2015
Gloucestershire Cricket One-Day Skipper, “Maxy” Klinger, scored a respectable 33 from 37 balls during today's Big Bash final, helping his team claim back-to-back titles.
Perth Scorchers – who beat the Sydney Sixers by 4 wickets - had plenty of wickets in hand during their run chase, but the run rate required was starting to get out of hand, with 32 runs required off the last 18 balls.
In a thrilling last over, Brett Lee took two wickets with the fourth and fifth balls. Needing one to win off the final ball, Sixers’ Captain, Moises Henriques, fluffed a run-out chance at the non-strikers end as Yasir Arafat scrambled through to secure victory for the Scorchers.
Shaun Marsh was named Player of the Match after his crucial innings of 73 off 59 balls. Jacques Kallis from the Sydney Thunder was awarded the Player of the Series.
Perth Scorchers 148-6 v Sydney Sixers 147-5
