Mercedes-Benz of Cheltenham & Gloucester continues to be a driving force behind cricket in Gloucestershire

Captain, Michael Klinger, is looking forward to getting into his ‘whites’ with Gloucestershire Cricket both on and off the pitch after teaming up with Mercedes-Benz of Cheltenham & Gloucester for a second successive season.

The Australian batsman collected the keys to a gleaming white C 350 AMG Sport Plus Saloon as the Staverton Retailer cemented its business ties with the county and looked forward to recording an impressive hat-trick as an official supporter of the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival later this summer.

Mercedes-Benz of Cheltenham & Gloucester has supported Gloucestershire Cricket since 2012 and last season supplied cars to both Michael and his compatriot Dan Christian when he played in the T20 campaign.

Having driven another C-Class last summer, when he scored more than 2,000 runs, Michael is now hoping for more of the same over the coming months.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my first full season of English cricket and, as a team, I’m hopeful that we can build on the sustained improvement that we showed last season,” said Michael. “The players, supporters and sponsors were great last year and really helped me to settle in, so to have the support of Mercedes-Benz of Cheltenham & Gloucester once again is fantastic for both the Club and myself.

“Last year was the first time I had driven a Mercedes-Benz and I really can’t wait to get behind the wheel again,” he continued. “They are just so comfortable that when we travel to away matches the boys usually nominate me as one of the designated drivers!”

Commenting on the sponsorship, Will Brown, Chief Executive, Gloucestershire Cricket, said that the Club was proud of its links with such a prestigious brand.

“We are delighted to welcome back Mercedes-Benz of Cheltenham & Gloucester as an official supporter of our cricket festival and I’m sure Michael is going to enjoy having such a great car for his use this year.  We’re immensely proud to have them backing us and look forward to a successful year of working together.”

Steve Lyons, Mercedes-Benz of Cheltenham & Gloucester’s Dealer Principal, concluded: “It’s tremendous to be associated with Gloucestershire Cricket for another summer. As one of the region’s major sporting events, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed being part of the cricket festival and by supporting Michael once more, we hope that we’re putting him on the road to another successful season.”
