Match Preview | Gloucestershire v Yorkshire | LV= Insurance County Championship
12 April 2023
Gloucestershire return to Bristol on Thursday when they face Yorkshire in the second round of the LV= County Championship at the Seat Unique Stadium.
An impressive comeback draw against Glamorgan last time out leaves Glos fifth in the table ahead of the clash, a repeat of Shire’s last fixture of the 2022 season when they were victorious over Yorkshire at Headingley.
Nine wickets in the match for Zafar Gohar including a five-wicket-haul in Yorkshire’s first innings helped Gloucestershire to a famous 18-run victory in Division 1.

Assistant Head Coach Will Porterfield will continue to take the squad as Dale Benkenstein remains in South Africa following a family bereavement.
Porterfield has named an unchanged squad ahead of Thursday’s fixture with Yorkshire, with Graeme van Buuren captaining a side buoyed by an impressive third and fourth day turnaround in Cardiff.
Van Buuren joined Marcus Harris in making a century in Shire’s second innings as the visitors declared on 569/7 before staging a late surge for victory taking three wickets before tea.
Marchant de Lange took three wickets on debut last time out and is once again joined in the Glos squad by fellow bowlers Ajeet Singh Dale and Josh Shaw.
Tom Price, who picked up from where he left off last season by taking six wickets against the Welsh county, is joined in the squad by brother Ollie who has good memories against Yorkshire after he made a crucial 68 in a low-scoring game at Headingley last year.
Jack Taylor was the beneficiary of that resolute Price innings last season as he made 67 in a 122-run partnership with 21-year-old Price. The one-day captain makes the squad again this time round.
Chris Dent’s and Miles Hammond’s second innings half centuries against Glamorgan set the innings up on the third day in Cardiff, and are joined in the squad by fellow top order batters James Bracey and Ben Charlesworth.

Visitors, Yorkshire were defeated by Leicestershire in the first round of the County Championship, a first win for the Foxes at Headingley for 113 years.
Yorkshire had two centurions in Dawid Malan and Finlay Bean in the match but Dom Bess’ fourth innings five-wicket-haul was not enough to stop Leicestershire from taking the points in Leeds.
Both Gloucestershire and Yorkshire will hope this week’s fixture proves to be their first win of the 2023 campaign.
