Match preview | Gloucestershire v Sussex Sharks | T20 Vitality Blast
27 May 2022
Gloucestershire have returned to the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol to face Sussex Sharks tonight following a disappointing defeat away at Middlesex yesterday.
Dale Benkenstein’s side will hope the return to Bristol for the first home match of the Vitality Blast campaign will bring a much-needed win and their first of the season across all formats. The Shire fell 30-runs short of a win at Radlett against Middlesex last night despite scoring 199 runs. An impressive performance from the host’s opening batter Stephen Eskinazi, who scored 87 runs off 37 balls, led his side to victory over the Gloucestershire.
Tonight’s visitors to the Seat Unique Stadium, Sussex Sharks, also fell to a defeat in their opening match of the T20 campaign against Glamorgan at their home ground in Hove last night. Visitors, Glamorgan, left the south coast with a seven-wicket win after Sussex only managed to amass 150 runs.
Mohammad Rizwan was the star of the show with 81*, while the rest of their batters failed to score more than 15 runs each.

Ryan Higgins with 34 runs and bowling figures of 3-32, as well as Benny Howell with a swift 46 off 20 balls, were the top performers for Glos against Middlesex and will be looking to build on their start to the Vitality Blast against Sussex Sharks.
David Payne and Naseem Shah picked up two wickets each and will be looking to kick-on under the floodlights in Bristol this evening.
Gloucestershire lost their last meeting with Sussex Sharks in Bristol last season, but came out on top in the away fixture thanks to an impressive 94 off 58 from Glenn Phillips. In the last five meetings between the two sides, Sussex Sharks have taken three wins compared to Gloucestershire’s two.
