Match Preview - Gloucestershire v Australia A
29 June 2019
Gloucestershire welcome Australia A to The Bristol County Ground for the first of two Tourist matches.
Match starts - 11.00am Gates open - 9.00am Sunday 30 June
Gloucestershire will be looking forward to playing 50 over cricket in Bristol again, after three out of four home group victories in the Royal London One-Day Cup earlier on in the season.
Head coach Richard Dawson expressed his excitement in challenging the Aussies - "It’s a great opportunity for our lads to compete against international standard players. We don’t often get that opportunity so to test ourselves against them is brilliant."
Gloucestershire XI to face Australia A
G Hankins, Charlesworth, Bracey (wkt), Cockbain, Howell, J Taylor (c), Willows, Smith, T Price, M Taylor, Liddle
"We’ve mixed and match so we’ve got a lot of experienced white ball players in the team like Smith, Liddle and Cockbain. There’s some youngsters there as well - Ben Charlesworth and Hankins who’s played some white ball cricket, he gets a chance too. It’s just a great chance to give people playing time and we’ve got the game on Tuesday where we can change it around again."
"I’m hoping to see players compete and not be overawed by the occasion. It’s a good opportunity to practice white ball in the lead up to T20. We’re not going to get a great deal of time to prepare for that so it’s good to have some matchplay practice. It would be great to see some individuals perform to a higher level and put in some match winning performances, that’s always the aim. It’s going to be a tough challenge but an exciting one."
Gloucestershire supporters will have the chance to watch T20 signing Andrew Tye in action for the Aussies.
